Our History
Recognizing that today’s students are tomorrow’s business and community leaders, GLBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation (formerly GLBT Leadership Education & Advocacy Program) was created by North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation works to carry out the charitable and educational objectives of the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce, support young adults, and nurture the development of leaders in the GLBT community.
We create leadership programming and educational events. We award educational scholarships to GLBT and Allied students, who exhibit leadership potential, demonstrate strong academic abilities, and who are actively involved in school and community organizations.
Since 2011 the Foundation as granted more than $75,000 in scholarships to deserving Texas students. Applicants are evaluated on demonstrated financial need, academic achievement and involvement in community service. Preference is given to students who self-identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, members of GLBT families, or allies who have been strongly supportive of the GLBT community.
