The Dallas Crosswalk Project began in 2019 as a joint project between the Cedar Springs Merchant Association and LGBT Chamber of Commerce Foundation in conjunction with community and business leaders.
The Crosswalk Project is a privately funded component of City of Dallas streetscape improvements underway in the Oak Lawn area. The project was designed to enhance the vibrancy and attractiveness of the area as a part of Dallas’ overall plan to brand and promote the various cultural and business districts/neighborhoods around the Central Business District (CBD) through distinctive design of key crosswalks in each area. The crosswalks on Cedar Springs are colorful stripes of the rainbow flag, symbolizing LGBT identity and pride.
Your contribution to the Foundation’s Crosswalk Fund will assist us in maintaining the rainbow crosswalks for many years to come.

Status Update
The 10 Rainbow Crosswalks along Cedar Springs were installed in February 2020, during the pandemic. In 2022, as more people returned to work, and the roadways, the crosswalks began to break apart. The color pieces were no longer adhering to the roadway. Since that time, the Chamber Foundation has been working with the City of Dallas to find a lasting solution to the problem and restore the crosswalks to their original beauty.
